The Coca-Cola Company was founded in 1892 (Giebelhaus, 2008). It is currently a multi-national enterprise (MNE), and has built a lot of its base through acquisitions and mergers of other companies and soft drink brands. More than 200 countries have Coca-Cola products on their shelves, and the company has also expanded into other avenues (Giebelhaus, 2008). In 1982, Coca-Cola purchased Columbia Pictures, which it eventually sold to Sony for a hefty profit in 1989 (Giebelhaus, 2008). Since that time, the company has been focused only on beverages and not on other endeavors. Despite the fact that Coca-Cola is rather specialized in that it only focuses on beverages, there are still a multitude of jobs within the company and there are still many issues that the company faces when it comes to ensuring that employees are properly recruited, trained, and compensated. Without addressing all three of those areas, even the best company can find that it is struggling in some way, because it failed to bring in the right people and treat them correctly.
